  3.          HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO MEGADISC
  4.          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  5.     One of the most gratifying aspects of editing Megadisc is getting
  6.     the mail - in the run-up to No. 6 the quality of contributions has
  7.     been very impressive, even by people who've never written a piece for
  8.     publication in their lives. This does everyone good (not just me!) -
  9.     everyone wins, contributors and users. It's very likely that you know
  10.     things that many others don't, and they'd like to hear about it, if you
  11.     manage to get it to Megadisc.
  12.  
  13.     If you get inspired and send us in a contribution which we use on
  14.     a future Megadisc, whether it be a review, article, program, series
  15.     of tips, graphics, animation or whatever, you'll be entitled to
  16.     any 5 Public Domain disks mentioned in "PDLibrary", as well as
  17.     a free copy of the Megadisc issue that your piece ends up in. So
  18.     when you do, include a note saying which disks you'd like to have.
  19.     Of particular interest are reviews of hardware and software, articles
  20.     on anything of interest to users, and utilities/programs. Also most
  21.     welcome would be in-depth reviews of the A500 and A2000, especially
  22.     anything of a practical nature; information about printers and printer
  23.     drivers (send in any drivers you have too); any bugs you've found in
  24.     programs you use; how you've set up your system, and what you're doing
  25.     with it,  etc.  Any current subscribers who send a contribution will
  26.     have their subscription extended by one issue, as well as getting the
  27.     usual 5 pd disks.

  29.     It would also be much appreciated if you'd put your contribution
  30.     on disk in the case of text as well, since it saves a lot of
  31.     key-fingering. Even better, make it a straight ASCII file if you
  32.     can - ie, use a text editor (like ED in the CLI) or save from your
  33.     Word Processor as ASCII (if you can). And keep the width of the text to
  34.     a maximum of 74, which is a good width for onscreen viewing. Documents
  35.     from Notepad or a word processor are fine if you're not sure about
  36.     ASCII.

  38.     Likewise, anyone who sends in a letter or anything else (like printer
  39.     drivers) on disk should mention which Public Domain disk they'd like
  40.     to get back on their disk.

  42.     Another way of getting information to Megadisc is to leave messages
  43.     and articles, graphics, etc on CLUB AMIGA BBS (sysops: Ross Kellaway
  44.     & Ken White; Tel: (02) 5216338). All you need is a modem and a
  45.     Communications program (get one of our public domain progs) - try it,
  46.     you'll like it! Don't worry if you don't hear from Megadisc for a while
  47.     after you contribute something - we'll get back to you eventually,
  48.     though you can always ring up and enquire about anything, anytime.

  50.     So get inspired, and be digitally published! It could be the start
  51.     of a scintillating career in the digital press. And don't forget,
  52.     what you think is obvious may be mystifying to someone else - they
  53.     may need to know what you know.
